Area’s economic development gets a boost

Arizona State University is locating its newest W.P. Carey Evening MBA and Custom Corporate MBA programs at Chandler 101, an executive office park to be developed by The Rockefeller Group in west Chandler’s Price Corridor.

The program will be the first of its kind in Chandler and is expected to complement the area’s economic development strategy of recruiting high-tech, high-wage employers.

“Chandler has been working diligently to bring an added educational presence to our city,” said Mayor Jay Tibshraeny. “ASU makes a great addition to the Price Corridor, which attracts high-profile businesses and an educated workforce.”

Because the Price Corridor is home to six miles of large-campus, high-wage employers, the location allows ASU to reach a large executive workforce in a convenient location, said Tibshraeny.

The school will also offer its newChandlerlocation as an option for custom corporate MBA programs that can be specifically designed around the strategic objectives of individual companies.

“We hope to begin holding classes either in fall 2013 or fall 2014, depending on construction progress,” said Amy Hillman, executive dean of the W.P.CareySchoolof Business. “This program is ranked Top 20 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. It’s the number 17 part-time MBA program in theUnited States.”

Chandler101 will cover 844,000 square feet on 24 acres with 8- to 10-story office towers, restaurants, retail, and a parking structure on the southeast corner ofChandler Boulevardand the Price 101 Freeway.  

ASU’s presence is expected to help make Chandler 101 attractive to prospective tenants, with on-site convenience to higher education to their employees. Colliers International, Inc. will be representing The Rockefeller Group for leasing inquiries.

“It’s clearly the premiere class A office location in the Valley,” said Mark Singerman, regional director of the Rockefeller Group. “I can’t think of a better location; we’re just looking for our first anchor tenant.”

Singerman added that the Rockefeller Group is in a position to move forward all cash, eliminating the need to wait for additionally finances.

Price Corridor, a major employment area in westChandler, extends six miles along the southwestern portion of the city. The area’s commercial real estate mix includes Class A office, executive office suites, light industrial parks, mixed-use projects and corporate and technology campus settings.

Key employers include Intel, Microchip, eBay/Paypal, International Rectifier, Digital Realty Trust, Orbital Sciences, Air Products and Toyota Financial Services.
