Volunteers are being recruited for the department’s Motorist Assist volunteer team, who are trained to respond to stranded motorists, accident scenes and other non-criminal calls for service.  Volunteers can issue citations for parking violations as well as assist with vehicle lockouts, found- property calls and perform neighborhood patrols.

A training academy will run for six weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting Sept. 14, with one Saturday class Oct. 2.  After graduation, each volunteer will receive 50 hours of hands-on field training.

Interested applicants must be at least 21 years of age, posses a valid Arizona driver’s license and successfully complete a background investigation.
