The rivalry was renewed in 2015 when the cross-town rivals last faced after a four-year playing ban was lifted. The Padres bested the Aztecs 22-15 during the highly contested regular season. Both teams met again in the opening round of the playoffs with Marcos holding off Corona, 14-7.

Both programs have gone through drastic transformations since the last meeting eight years ago. The Arizona Interscholastic Association revamped the division settings, with the Aztecs set in the 6A conference (division I) while the Padres moved to 4A (division III).

Corona is coming into the match up on a three-game skid with the most recent defeat at the hands of the Chandler Wolves, 42-0. Meanwhile, the Padres have won three straight after dropping their season-opener to Yuma Catholic. The Padres bested the Youngker Roughriders of Buckeye in Week 4, 34-12.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
