Tsunami relief effort
Spa collecting funds

An area salon is accepting donations for victims and families of the Asian tsunamis. Funds received, as well as proceeds donated by the salon, will be forwarded to the Salvation Army and its South Asia Disaster Fund. Donations will be accepted through January.

The business, Andersen Springs Salon and Day Spa, is owned and operated by Paula Bigos. Her husband, David Bigos, is a member of the Chandler Salvation Army Advisory Board. He will ensure funding is directed to the relief area in Asia through the Southwest headquarters.

"Right now, money is key to relief efforts in the countries affected by the disaster," Paula said. "We will do all we can to raise funds for those most in need."

Salon personnel will donate a percentage of their sales during the next two weeks, Paula Bigos said.

The salon, open Tuesday through Saturday, is at 1949 W. Ray Road, Chandler. Information: (480) 786-1109.

The Salvation Army has launched tremendous relief efforts in the affected areas. For more information call 1-800-SAL-ARMY or visit www.salvationarmyusa.org.
