July 4th funfest

General admission tickets for the July 4 Tempe Town Lake Festival continue to be on sale for $5 at the customer service counter of all area Safeway stores.

Tickets are also available through GetTix.net (www.gettix.com) or (866) 443-8849 (a surcharge applies to online or phone ticket purchases) or at the gate for $8 individually or $15 for two, until 8 p.m. on July 4; kids 12-18 will be $5 at the gate; children 12 years and under will be free.

The annual family festival--the Valley's longest running--is produced by the Kiwanis Club of Tempe, with net proceeds benefiting Tempe-area charities. Last year, the event raised more than $60,000 for community programs.

This year’s event is scheduled from 4 to 11 p.m. Monday, July 4, at Tempe Beach Park (Rio Salado Parkway and Mill Avenue) in Tempe.

Event features include:

The SRP 54th Annual Fireworks Spectacular over Tempe Town Lake and the Mill Avenue Bridge;
The Pure Fitness Hot Summer Nights music stage featuring Arizona's best local bands;
The Arizona Republic Family Connection Section Splash Zone with water fun and games for the entire family;
Fantastic Family Fest, offering a free, all-ages inflatable village, rides, rock climbing walls, water wars, relay races, magicians and more;
Assorted food courts featuring On The Border, This Country's Kitchen, Pizza Hut and lots of all-American fare (barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, cold beer and soft drinks etc.)

Reserved seating is available.

The Suncor Summer Nights Garden is another feature of this year's festival.

Admission includes reserved seating, misting system comfort, an Outback Steakhouse dinner, two drink tickets and a great view of the music stage and fireworks.
