No whitewash in KMS graffiti case

Sept. 23, 2006

Kyrene Middle School’s 15 minutes of infamy have been sandblasted into history.

Principal Susan Poole announced last week that, despite intense media coverage, no parent uproar was heard after two teenagers apparently applied graffiti to a school wall as payback for being disciplined there last year.

The accused young vandals were spotted along the unpaved horse trail that is an extension of Lakeshore Drive, just east of the school campus on Carver Road, after an alert parent spotted the mischief in progress.

Poole said the graffiti was routinely sandblasted by the school’s maintenance staff. The unruly pair was not identified pending notification of next of kin.
