‘Mission Organization’ zeroes in on sprucing up a deserving home

When Sara Baxter, a producer for cable TV’s popular do-it-yourself show Mission Organization, came to town looking for prospects, she zeroed in on Kyrene Corridor insurance agent Mary Contreras.

But the more the two talked the more Baxter became convinced that one of Contreras’ employees, commercial-line specialist Stella Buelna, would make an even better case study.

So Baxter and her crew launched a five-day, semi-secret effort to remake the living room at Buelna’s Chandler home.

That effort started Jan. 18 and was due to include a complete new look, featuring two sofas, an entertainment unit, coffee tables and other furnishings provided by such local vendors as Newport Furnishings and Arizona Mesquite.

“The idea to get all of us together really was Karen Ussery’s (owner of the firm Organized by Design),” says State Farm agent Contreras.

“The idea to involve Stella came from the show’s producer, who felt Stella’s home and how she acquired it would make for a heartwarming story,” Contreras said.

The story will air on the HGTV network sometime in the spring.
