‘Cinderella’ group launches formal prom-raising drive

The Cinderella Affair, a volunteer project of Tempe Community Council, is again asking for donations of formalwear from the community to help make attending prom affordable for all high school junior and senior students. 

 The third annual Prom Dress Drive will be held Feb. 12 to 19, during which time donations of gently used formals, purses, shoes, jewelry and wraps will be welcomed at more than a dozen drop-off locations throughout the Valley, including the following locations: 

Tempe Community Council, 34 E. 7th Street, Tempe; Pyle Adult Recreation Center (655 E. Southern Ave., Tempe; All Tempe fire stations (call 858-2300 for locations); Ahwatukee Community Center (4700 E. Warner Road, Phoenix); and Snedigar Recreation Center (4500 S. Basha Roa, Chandler).

The third annual Cinderella Affair will take place April 8 for students of the Tempe Union High School District and April 9 for all Valley-area high school juniors and seniors. 

The event will be held at Pyle Adult Recreation Center.  Female students may attend the event and select one dress and accessories free of charge. 

Thanks to Mr.Formal, with locations Valleywide, a number of male students will be assisted as well with a referral from their school.  

Monetary donations are also being accepted and may be mailed to Tempe Community Council/Cinderella Affair at 34 E. Seventh St., Tempe, AZ  85281.
