Matt Hayhurst is an eighth grade student at Aprende Middle School and a member of the 2006 Jaguar Cross Country Team. As a seventh grader, Matt was a varsity runner on Aprende’s conference championship cross country team.

This year Matt is undefeated, finishing first at every dual/triangular meet. He is also an outstanding swimmer, finishing second at the state meet in the backstroke as a member of the Rio Salado Swim Team.

Matt also plays tackle football and loves the outdoors, especially fishing.

Lisa Wiley is also an eighth grader and a member of the 2006 Jaguar Cross Country Team. She has competed in cross country at Aprende for three years and is known for her determination and hard work.

She has been the first or second runner this fall for Aprende’s undefeated girls cross country team.

Lisa also competes for the Arizona Cheetahs Track Club. Her goal is to become a great runner in high school. Outside of sports, she enjoys hanging out with her friends.

Athletes of the Week are selected by the coaches at each Kyrene middle school.
