Tibshraeny expands local, regional roles

Jay Tibshraeny has been appointed to several local and regional committees in his role as Chandler’s new mayor. In addition to previous assignments with the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Executive Committee, Tibshraeny is now a member of the Regional Council for the Maricopa Association of Governments and an ex officio member of the East Valley Partnership and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.
The League of Arizona Cities and Towns is a voluntary association of all the 91 incorporated cities and towns in Arizona which provides policy and legislative advocacy and information and inquiry services in order to strengthen the quality and efficiency of municipal government.

MAG is a council of governments providing regional planning and policy decisions in areas of transportation, air quality, water quality and human services affecting the Phoenix Metro area. East Valley Partnership is a coalition of business, community and government leaders dedicated to improving business and quality of life.

The Chandler Chamber of Commerce works to improve the business community in Chandler.
A native of Chandler, Tibshraeny has a lifetime of public service in the east Valley. In addition to his most recent appointments, Tibshraeny serves on Chandler/Gilbert Association for Retarded Citizens Advisory Board; Child Crisis Center Advisory Board; and ICAN Site Advisory Committee.
Tibshraeny began his fifth term as Chandler’s mayor in January after serving eight years in the Arizona State Senate.

He originally served as a member of the Chandler City Council from 1986 to 2002 as councilmember, vice mayor and mayor. He was first elected Chandler’s mayor in 1994, and served in that capacity for four consecutive terms through 2002.

He succeeds Boyd Dunn in the mayoral job.
