How-to’s help entreprenuers start a small business

Hands-on advice to entrepreneurs who want to start or grow a small or minority-owned enterprise, followed by a workshop on how to do business with 15 or more city, county and state agencies, will be presented Wednesday, May 27, through a collaboration between the city of Chandler and Chandler Chamber of Commerce.

The annual Chandler Small Business Development Workshop will run from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the Chandler City Council Chambers, second floor of the downtown library, 22 S. Delaware.

The programs covers a variety topics for business owners, including legal issues, implementing green practices, obtaining financing, finding new clients, using new technologies for cost-effective marketing, and utilizing city of Chandler and Chandler Chamber of Commerce resources effectively.

Following the workshop, the city’s Purchasing Division will host an East Valley Procurement Fair offering strategies on how to compete for government-agency contracts. That portion of the program, which will be held in rooms 110 and 111 of the neighboring Chandler Community Center, will end at 3:30 p.m.

The workshop and fair are free, and lunch will be provided. However, because space is limited, participants must register by Friday, May 22, to reserve a space.
