Church to host summer music camp

Arizona Community Church will be the site of a summer music camp for children ages 11 to 14. The week-long, half-day intensive workshops are designed for violin, viola, cello and bass students from throughout the Valley.

Students with at least one year of string instruction and the ability to read music will get a chance to play and have fun learning music with their peers. Public school, charter school and homeschooled students who fulfill the requirements are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Tuition is $150, $175 after June 10.

The program, sponsored by East Valley String Workshop, allows students to participate daily in technique classes for their instrument in -long session, the students will participate in an orchestra performance open to family and friends.

Workshop teachers are professional certified string specialists, each of whom has had at least 20 years experience teaching string playing to young people.

Sessions run June 22-26 and June 29-July 3. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Arizona Community Church is at 9325 S. Rural Road, Tempe.
