For the second year in a row, Corona del Sol High School junior Yun-Ting Lee has placed first in the Upper String Division of the Phoenix Symphony Guild’s Young Musicians Competition.

Lee has played violin for 11 years and has studied under the direction of Dr. Phyllis Skoldberg at ASU for the past two.

In addition, he is an honor student and co-concertmaster of the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra.

In November 2001, Lee placed first in the state in the Arizona String Teachers Assn. Competition and was concertmaster of the 2001 All State Orchestra.

Last summer, as a PSG scholarship recipient, he attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan, where he was a member of the renown World Youth Orchestra.

Lee was one of 143 contestants who competed in the 2002 Phoenix Symphony Guild Young Musicians Competition and advanced with 15 senior division finalists. This year, 12 of the 15 finalists were members of the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra.
The Phoenix Symphony Guild Orchestral Training Program has more than 300 talented
young musicians from grades five through 12, participating in four classical music groups. The group performs five concerts for the public during the season.
The Youth Orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Information: www.azneighbors.com/267.
