Free July 4 show by Salt River Brass

Kyrene Corridor residents have been invited to celebrate Independence Day with a free Salt River Brass performance of such patriotic pieces as America the Beautiful, Sousa’s El Capitan, Washington Post and Stars and Stripes Forever. 

Bilik’s American Civil War Fantasy, a medley of over a dozen tunes of the period, including Dixie, Johnny Comes Marching Home and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, will pay tribute to America’s heritage.

Other favorites will include Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from Company B, plus a medley of Disney classics featuring tunes from Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella, plus A Whole New World from Aladdin, and Under The Sea from The Little Mermaid.

Tchaikovski’s 1812 Overture will whet the appetite for fireworks.

Guest conductor Dr. Wayne Bailey is director of the School of Music and a professor of music at Arizona State University.  He holds a doctorate of musical arts in instrumental conducting from the University of Colorado and is the author of three widely used music education textbooks, plus a number of band and brass arrangements and music education journal articles.
