Pueblo’s girls post 15-0 season

Pueblo Middle School’s seventh grade girls softball team finished the 2002-03 season undefeated, with a 15-0 record. The team also won all four playoff games to win the Kyrene Athletic Conference Championship.

Coach Shelba Sikes has taught and coached at Pueblo since 1996. She has a 97-6 record for her softball teams and has had three other undefeated softball teams at the school. She was assisted by Megan Hansen, a former player who now plays at Corona del Sol High School.

“At middle school, our main goal is not to win but to help develop the skills of our student athletes and help them attain personal as well as team goals,” said Sikes.

“I am just thankful that I have the opportunity to coach and to give back a special gift that I once received.”

Sikes said she especially appreciates the support of the parents this year.

Members of the winning team include Kara Saaty, Ally Goodman, Ashley Hansen, Chrystine Bohman, Danielle Cano, Ashley Cleveland, Jillian Dworaczyk, Brianna Foote, Candance Jacobson, Shae Knowlton, Megan McLeod, Kristen Mackey, Frederica Nunn, Elizabeth Reidel and Kayla Taylor.
