New fire, police stations will open Aug. 1 near Desert Breeze Park

July 29, 2006

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies for Chandler's new police substation and adjoining fire station will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 251 and 211 N. Desert Breeze Blvd. West (north of Chandler Boulevard between McClintock and Rural roads).

It will be the city's first police substation and ninth fire station.

Tours will be offered following a short dedication ceremony at 4:30 p.m., presided over by Mayor Boyd W. Dunn, members of the City Council and police and fire officials. There will also be public safety displays for public view. Refreshments will be available.

The $8.4 million project features the 21,000-square-foot substation, fire station and a park feature connecting the facilities with adjacent Desert Breeze Park.

Turner Construction handled construction of the project.

For more information, contact Fire Battalion Chief Dan Couch at (480) 782-2236, or Police Sgt. Rick Griner at (480) 782-4108.
