Kyrene de las Brisas

May 12-16 is Staff Appreciation Week at Brisas!  This week the PTSO will be treating the staff to many surprises and treats, as well as a luncheon on the 14th to show them how much we appreciate them for the tremendous job they do. Please join us in letting the staff know how much we appreciate them.

Thursday, May 15th the Brisas Gecko Players will present the Music Man at 7:15 pm in the multipurpose room.  The Players are directed by our 5th grade teacher, and very talented drama coach Joe Grube and assisted by Diane Burt.  There are approximately 95-100 students in kindergarten-5th grade that participate in the Gecko Players and Set-N-Design Club (directed by Jeanne Berk).

Kyrene del Cielo

The Multi-Age chose a Science theme for Cielo’s Celebrate Learning Night on May 1st. The students completed a science experiment at home, took pictures of each of the scientific steps of the experiment, and glued all to a poster board. The poster boards were displayed for the evening to the delight of our Multi-Age community!  Students shared their experiments and all that they learned. The students have been busy writing stories, both persuasive and imaginative! Art projects accompanied the writing; cereal boxes or clay both work great for students to illustrate settings, characters, and problems! Students are preparing for the end of the year by finishing literature studies and finalizing all Math learning. Thank you to our parent community for the incredible support that has been given us this academic year. We are so fortunate at Cielo to have the finest parent volunteers!   We are looking forward to our Water Sports Days on May 20th and 21st.

Kyrene de las Manitas

Kyrene de los Niños

The first graders are up to their elbows in dirt learning all about plants! They are busy growing vegetables and rooting new plants from cuttings. In the computer lab, they have drawn and labeled all the parts of a flowering plant. A highlight of the plant unit is a book each student is writing and illustrating called "A Seed Grows." The book focuses on the life cycle and parts of a watermelon plant. Students are using a multitude of art media to complete this colorful book. Upon completion of this book, the first graders will hold a watermelon celebration! Niños Volunteers were invited to attend an appreciation tea on Wednesday, May 7th. We certainly appreciate all that they do for our students and for our school.
