Deadline near for comments on judge reappointment

The city of Tempe Judicial Advisory Board will conduct a public hearing to receive community comments on the job performance of Presiding Judge Louraine C. Arkfeld. The hearing is from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 in Courtroom 4 on the first floor of the Tempe Municipal Court Building, 140 E. Fifth St.

Written comments also will be accepted by the board, but must be received no later than March 8. Comments should be mailed to: Judicial Advisory Board, Tempe Municipal Court, 140 E. Fifth St., Suite 200, Tempe, AZ 85281

The board will consider these comments when deciding whether to recommend Judge Arkfeld for a two-year reappointment. The City Council makes the official appointment. Judge Arkfeld was appointed to her first two-year term in May 1994, and was reappointed by the Council in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002.
