Class will focus on civil enforcement of Jewish divorce
The community is invited to Temple Beth Sholom for its monthly Torah study at noon Saturday, Feb. 12, immediately following 9 a.m. services.
Topic will be civil enforcement of the Jewish divorce, presented by Suzanne Marwil. The class will focus on how the language of a ketubah (marriage contract) might affect a woman's ability to obtain court assistance in obtaining her husband's cooperation in giving a get (Jewish divorce), as well as describing how different locales around the country have attempted to help women obtain gets.
"If you've ever thought that verses of the Bible can't affect our daily lives, this class will change your mind," says Marwil.
Marwil is a practicing attorney with Perkins Cole Brown & Bain PA. and an active member of Temple Beth Sholom, 3400 N. Dobson Road, Chandler.
No prior experience is needed and materials will be provided. Information: (480) 897-3636 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
