Display of signed prints designed to raise awareness, funds for America's war veterans

More than 1,500 war veterans die every day, and area gallery owner Dave Gosling isn’t about to let them be forgotten.

During February and March, Gosling plans to honor veterans with an exhibition of limited-edition prints created by world famous artists and signed by some of those who fought against oppression for the past 65 years.

The exhibit will take place at Gosling’s Heirloom Gallery, 1825 E. Guadalupe Road, Suite 105, Tempe.

“It’s a chance for youngsters to learn about the heroic actions of those vets who served in both world wars, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf war,” Gosling said.

One of the featured subjects will be former Scottsdale resident Joe Foss, a Marine Corps fighter ace who fought during World War II. Foss died Jan. 1.

During the show, the gallery will feature limited edition prints by artists James Dietz, William S. Phillips and Robert Taylor.

Their works depict such epic wartime events as battles with enemy aircraft and the sinking of enemy ships.

The prints will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds earmarked for the Joe Foss Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of patriotism, integrity and an appreciation of American freedoms.

According to Gosling, the prints are unique not only because they depict the actual pilots and the aircraft they flew but because they are signed by both the artist and the pilots depicted in them.

Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity.
