Chandler seeking resident feedback on airport communication issues

Chandler is enhancing its community outreach efforts for the Chandler Municipal Airport by finding out more about its neighbors.

West Chandler and other city residents are being asked to answer a brief, Web-based survey at www.westgroupresearch.com/airport .

The five-minute survey is being conducted by WestGroup Research and will be available online until Aug. 25.
Results will help the city identify ways to improve the Airport’s neighborhood outreach and communication program, according to planners.

“As Chandler’s business community continues to grow, our goal is to ensure we are openly and actively communicating with our residents,” said Chris Mackay, acting economic development director.

“This survey will help guide us in the future to best address residents’ concerns, answer questions, receive feedback and inform them about the events and investment occurring at the Airport.”

At Chandler’s build-out, it is anticipated that 28 million square feet of non-residential space will occupy the nine square miles known as the Chandler Airpark Area.

Opening of the SanTan 202, coupled with and the growing reputation of Chandler’s workforce, has attracted notable national commercial developers such as the Rockefeller Group and Harsch Investments in addition to large employers such as CDW to the area.

Chandler Municipal Airport, located south of the SanTan 202 Freeway between McQueen and Gilbert Roads, was established in 1949.

With more than 260,000 operations each year, it is among the nation’s 50 busiest airports and delivers an annual economic impact of more than $53 million, according to a 2002 Arizona Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division study.
