Alex Lawson, a 2012 Corona graduate and two-time Arizona state Division I tennis champion in both single and doubles, has been selected as an All-American for his performances this season playing for the University of Notre Dame by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on June 4.
Corona's track team had the most state qualifiers in the school’s history at the AIA Division I State Championships held May 4 and 7 at Mesa Community College, at which the girls team finished fifth and the boys team sixth out of 38 DI teams.
Cory Nenaber will most likely be Corona’s new athletic director, awaiting approval by the Tempe Union High School District governing board, after long-time athletic director Dan Nero announced his retirement to be effective at the end of the school year.
