There’s a rejuvenated sense of excitement when Friday nights roll around at Corona del Sol High School.

When you’re four feet tall and full of energy, you might be able to build a castle or a pirate ship before lunch.

Music education in local schools is alive and well, say administrators from both Kyrene and Tempe Elementary districts.

More than 2,000 bands from 23 schools statewide will compete at the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Assn. annual marching band invitational Oct. 17 at Corona del Sol High School.

Before the start of classes this year, Tempe Academy of International Studies received recognition from the International Baccalaureate World Organization that its curriculum has achieved a prestigious milestone—award of IB's gold-standard recognition: accreditation status.

As homecoming season approaches, one man has taken the invite to return to his alma mater to another level. Cory Nenaber, a former football player at Corona del Sol High School, is once again the talk of the Aztecs.

Kyrene Traditional Academy/Sureño Campus has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2015, one of 335 such institutions selected nationwide.

The Kyrene School District is one of the most successful in the state, serving more than 17,000 students while maintaining a consistent “A” rating.
