Tempe’s ‘CARE 7’ unit seeking new volunteers

CARE 7 officials are seeking volunteers to assist with the organization’s award-winning crisis intervention program.

Volunteers are required to attend nightly training classes for two weeks beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Tempe Fire Station # 6.

Tuition is $45 for eight sessions of informative classes. Classes are limited to 20 participants and cover domestic violence, substance abuse, Death Notification & Grief, Diversity, Crisis Intervention Skills, Mental Illness, Special Populations, Suicide Intervention.

The Care 7 Crisis Response Team provides emergency crisis intervention and victim assistance to local residents involved in a traumatic experience such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child drowning or severe automobile accident. The mobile crisis intervention unit, CARE 7, is dispatched to 9-1-1 emergency calls and service is available 24 hours a day.
