Deadline looms for Fleischer Scholars Program aimed at high school students

Minority and economically disadvantaged high school students will be able to live on campus and experience what it’s like to attend one of the top business schools in the nation through a program being offered by the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Best of all, the weeklong program is free.

The annual Fleischer Scholars Program will be open to about 50 select students from across the state. Participants will stay with supervising mentors in Barrett, the Honors College on ASU’s Tempe campus, while learning business skills and preparing for college.

The priority consideration deadline is March 21 with a final deadline of April 25. Applications are available at wpcarey.asu.edu/Fleischer or by calling 480-965-5187.

The program is available only to high school students who have just completed their junior year. They will work with current W.P. Carey students and faculty members, as well as local business leaders. They will learn resume writing, college study skills, university application tips, financial aid advice and other valuable information.

“Attending Fleischer Scholars was life changing,” says Susan Chen, a 2015 Fleischer Scholar who now attends the W. P. Carey School of Business. “I’ve never learned so much and had so much fun at the same time. It was more than just a camp, it was an eye-opening journey.”

Sessions are scheduled June 13-17 and July 11-15. High school counselors and teachers are encouraged to identify strong candidates interested in business.
