The Valley Christian girls soccer team defeated Horizon Honors 4-1 at home Jan. 3. Senior Madeline Brown, the leading goal scorer on the team with 19 or 1.1 a game, took only five shots on goal but was able to score two goals, while fellow seniors Ashlyn Gross and Lona Fitzgerald each scored one. Junior Sophia Ames and freshman Hannah Best each took shots at Horizon Honors’ goalkeeper but was unable to score. Fitzgerald was credited with two assists, while Keara Schromm had one. Freshman goalkeeper Audrey Brown only allowed only one goal while saving six attacks by the Eagles’ strikers.
