Chompie’s sliders: Are they next up for a place in the ‘Guiness Book of World Records’?

You don’t have to be Adam Richman, host of “Man v. Food,” to enjoy a Chompie’s Ultimate slider, but you’d better be hungry.
Chompie’s will host its Fourth Annual Customer Appreciation Ultimate Slider Celebration July 17 at all Chompie’s locations, including the one at Chandler Fashion Center, with 99-cent Jewish Sliders.
Made famous in 2010 at the Ultimate Slider Challenge in Tempe when Richman attempted to down 12 of them in 30 minutes (he failed), the popularity of these mouth-watering, appetite-filling sandwiches continues to grow, along with the Customer Appreciation Ultimate Slider Celebration.
At last year’s event, more than 11,495 sliders were purchased. Wendy Borenstein-Tucker, co-owner of Chompie’s, said they hope to break that record this year.
“It’s amazing what a not-so-little sandwich can do,” Borenstein-Tucker said.
“It makes people happy and brings them together. That’s what Chompie’s has always been about.”
