Citizens Police Academy launches its latest 13-week class series on Feb. 6

Applications for the next Citizens Police Academy , which runs 13 weeks Feb. 6 through April 24, are now being accepted by Chandler PD.
Classes are held from 6 to 9 p.m.Wednesdays at the department’s main station, 250 E. Chicago St. Applicants must be 18 years old and either work, live or attend school in the city of Chandler.
A basic background check is required.
The academy gives participants a look inside the day-to-day operations of the department, and the describes the guidelines that determine how officers function.
Academy participants will be introduced to topics on media and the law, firearms training, gang awareness, patrol functions, K-9 functions, criminal investigations, school violence, traffic law, and use of force. Instruction in police procedures and theory is combined with practical, hands-on scenarios from officers in their respective fields.
