Flights on historic WWII aircraft to be featured at ‘Airport Dayz’

Chandler Airport Dayz, a weekend of aviation fun featuring a variety of aircraft, informational booths, vendors, food and live music, will be held April 16-17 at Chandler Municipal Airport and hosted by Chandler Air Service, a leading flight school located at 1675 E. Ryan Road.
Several aircraft from the Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing Aviation Museum will be on display, including a pair of WWII bombers, the B-17 “Sentimental Journey” and B-25 “Made in the Shade” . Tours inside and flights aboard the war birds will be available for purchase.
Airport Dayz will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 17. Admission and parking is free. Rides will be for sale in planes and helicopters.
Chandler Municipal Airport is owned and operated by the City and has been in operation since 1948. A special historical display will chronicle the history of Chandler’s airport from its early days as the home of several crop dusting operations to today’s 37th busiest general aviation airport in the country.
Chandler Airport Dayz is organized by Chandler Air Service and the Chandler Airport Alliance to honor America’s war veterans and provide an opportunity for the public to visit Chandler’s airport and learn more about its businesses and the local aviation community.
The winners of an airport poster contest for students grades K-6 will be announced at the event, with the grand prize winner receiving a free airplane ride over Chandler. Post contest entry forms are available online at www.chandleraz.gov/airport or can be picked up at the Chandler Municipal Airport or Chandler City Hall. Entry deadline is April 8.
